Youth
Fellowship
Youth Fellowship came to existence through the cry of ECWA Pastors and Elders all over the Denomination. The cry then was that many were running away from the church (ECWA) without caring to know why they were doing that. The exodus Youth then felt the adults were not giving them room to serve the Lord in their own ways. This perception made the youth felt they were more of strangers in their home churches. Those who were honest in wanting to serve the Lord, started looking for more spiritual ways of growing outside the Denomination.
It was in this spirit that the Fellowship sprang out of curiosity among the young people themselves. It is not certain where the Fellowship started hence individual churches started inaugurating the Fellowship in their own way. The general desire gradually inspired the Christian Education Department to the level of coming up with ways that the church could be revived using the fresh blood (Youth). Director (Rev. Samaila Kure) invited Youth from different churches into the Department to encourage them on the need to continue with the good works. Some of those good works then were: Organizing Crusades, and outreaches for soul winning. In that meeting, caretaker committee was made; a situation that resulted to what is called ECWA Youth Fellowship today.
The committee members were:
- Brother Godwin Oji as the Leader. Orji served for one year (1978).
- Brother Sule Malgwi took over in 1980. Malgwi leadership resulted to the first National Youth Conference in Bible Collge Kagoro in April 8th – 12th, 1982.
